Is this even real life?

Do you know that feeling where you just feel like everything is right. It’s this all-consuming feeling, and even though everything could be going wrong and you have no idea what is going to happen next, you still feel this overwhelming sensation that it’s good, and right, and so so unconventionally perfect? Well that’s exactly how I’ve felt these first couple of days here in Prague. I arrived in Prague after a 2 hour layover in Minneapolis followed by an 8 hour flight to Paris where I had one hour to run through 2 security check points and have my passport stamped at a very below-average security check point. The man looked at my passport, looked up at me, stamped my passport, and then threw it back to me. Once I had arrived in Prague I soon realized that my luggage had been left behind in Paris, every girls traveling nightmare had become a reality
Once I had met up with the other students in my program and met one of my roommates we decided that the only way to spend our first hour in Prague, well known for it’s beer, was to visit the Airport pub and have our first Pilsner. I now understand why Czechs are known for their overwhelming amount of beer consumption.

The rest of these first couple days have consisted of getting settled into our apartment, which is surprisingly spacious for what I have heard about European housing. I am rooming with three other girls, that are truly just wonderful!
Czech food definitely lives up to my expectations. Czech cuisine, from what I have experienced consists usually of some meat (usually duck or pork), cooked to perfection, dumplings and cabbage/sauerkraut. It is delicious. And oh so filling.
Exploring Prague is like walking through a picture book and feeling like the princess in the fairy tale books I read as a little girl, except instead of having a love affair with a prince, I’m having a love affair with the city. Prague is magic. It is so beautiful, but really that word does this city no justice. I also began my two-week intensive Czech language course on Monday, and to say that I am struggling, would be an understatement. Granted, I’m only going on day 3, but this language is just crazy, for lack of a better adjective.

As I am sure you can tell by the photos of me all bundled up, it has been cold. My Texas blood is not as tough as I had previously imagined. Ranging from High 30’s to low 20’s and some snow I have been cold. It snowed the other day and to say I was happy would be a lie. I was so freaking excited. Snow in Prague has nothing on the snow I’ve seen. It’s so light and beautiful and the scenery definitely adds to it.

It has been 4 days. In the past 4 days I have met a group of people that I know will make this experience even better than I initially thought it would be. In the past 4 days I have had money stolen from me, luggage lost, luggage returned and explored a city that truly is like a fairytale-dream-disney wonderland-postcard-green screen that I am so extremely overjoyed that I get to call home for the next 4 months.
Walking around this city just feels right. It feels right and oh so good. Even though these past few days have been a whirlwind and have consisted of some crazy amazing, terrifying, and frustrating moments, there’s this overwhelming and all consuming sensation that it’s right and meant to be.
I am so excited to see what the rest of this semester holds for me. Stay tuned y’all.
